Colliers Project Leaders
Case study
Since 2018 Colliers Project Leaders have benefited from a strong focus on health and safety, improved project delivery, and industry recognition through Advanced Safety's support.
The Client:
Colliers Project Leaders

Colliers Project Leaders are experts in project management and development management.
CPL provides clients with advocacy and strategic advice throughout a project's lifecycle, from feasibility studies to successful completion.
They have the specialist skills to deliver projects, including tenancy coordination and seismic strengthening, procurement, and programme management throughout New Zealand.
The Challenges
Assuring Colliers Project Leaders’ High Standards
Colliers Project Leaders wanted independent confirmation that its health‑and‑safety systems genuinely met the exacting benchmarks it promises to blue‑chip property and infrastructure clients.
Consistency Across a Nationwide Project Portfolio
From Auckland CBD tower refurbishments to regional infrastructure upgrades, the team needed one robust framework that could flex to local risk profiles yet deliver uniform, auditable performance everywhere.
Deepening Engagement Across Internal Teams and Supply Chain
Project managers, tenancy coordinators, and contractor crews had to see health and safety as a core project deliverable—on a par with cost, quality, and programme - so building genuine day‑to‑day ownership was essential.
Closing Gaps Left by Previous Consultancy Support
Earlier advisers produced lengthy reports but little field‑level change. Colliers Project Leaders required guidance aligned with its project‑management methodology - action‑oriented, supply‑chain‑aware, and capable of delivering measurable, lasting improvements that withstand client and regulator scrutiny.
Our Solutions
We undertook a Compliance Compass - deep dive capability assessment which involved a review of the existing documentation, work group interviews, on-location inspections and a round-table engagement and culture survey. We identified the strengths, opportunities for improvement and generated an action plan.
Agreed a routine project by project inspection regime - ensuring the construction projects were meeting the minimum standards expected of CPL and their clients, while adapting to the unique nature of the projects and supply chain relationships.
Providing regular in-house support - developing and embedding health and safety within the organisation. Having a go-to resource (via informal conversation, regular H&S related updates, presentations, training and on-the project inspections) has empowered the team and enhanced everyone's confidence.
By taking the time to getting to know the business well from the very beginning of the relationship, Advanced Safety avoided making assumptions about how the business operates and what it values. In doing so we saved the business time and energy, ensuring they got the very most from their investment.
The Results: Beyond Compliance
Advanced Safety has worked with Colliers Project Leaders team for several years as their in-house expert advisor.
In that time we have created and embedded a Workplace Integrated Management System, aligned to:
ISO 45001 H&S Management System
ISO 9001 Quality Management System
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
ISO 31000 Risk Management
produced and delivered workshop and electronic learning solutions that have played a part in the business becoming a recognised RICS professional development provider, and provided countless project audits on behalf of the project managers and their clients.
Recently the Executive Leadership Team advised Advanced Safety that the feedback during the on-boarding and exit interviews of the crew consistently confirmed that CPL takes health and safety seriously. CPL are also Tōtika recognised.
